FindingMyRecovery Overview

What is FindingMyRecovery?

FindingMyRecovery is a positive, strengths-focused website to support people in recovery from mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disorders.

Why was FindingMyRecovery developed?

FindingMyRecovery was developed to expand and enhance treatment and recovery to rural communities across Tennessee. FindingMyRecovery provides a web-based peer-to-peer recovery support  via private and group chats, blogs and personal profiles. The project closes the gap for service access by offering a technology-driven alternate for individuals with limited or no access to treatment and recovery for substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders. The project provides screening for co-occurring disorders as well as optimizing use of technology-based treatment.

What do the Recovery Coaches do?

The Recovery Coaches facilitate chat rooms that help people with real-life situations impacting their recovery. Topics like stress reduction, managing symptoms and cravings, relapse prevention planning are discussed with the Recovery Coaches during chats.  We incorporate three evidence-based models to increase engagement into services, offer hope in recovery and provide recovery skills via web-based chat rooms and blogs. Using Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change Model as well as peer-to-peer recovery concepts, the program model is grounded in h3 practice strategies that will ensure positive outcomes for those being served.

Is there a fee for using FindingMyRecovery?

There is no fee to use the program. For the first three years, FindingMyRecovery was funded by a grant from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration.
